.44 caliber "Bartholow" civil war bullet. Patent date August 5, 1862. This bullet had a pressed powder cylinder glued to the bullet. A silk strip was added to reinforce the glue joint between the bullet and the powder. MM479  TT48

.54 caliber Merrill's carbine.  The sprue on the bottom is so large I am going to call this a "Ringtail Merrill's".  Great bullet with excellent patina.  This bullet from the Battle of Jenkins Ferry Arkansas.

.31 caliber Volcanic Self Contained civil war bullet. SB #4A
.31 caliber Volcanic Self Contained. MM CRTG.No. 145, 146, 151, and 152. T&T 15A. Considered a rare bullet. This bullet has not been cleaned.  Approximate size: .35 diameter .552 length.

Volcanic bullets are actually self-contained cartridges. Smith & Wesson held the patent (#14,147 dated January 22, 1856) for these bullets. There are many variations found in the rings and the bases. Primers in the bases were sealed with combinations of cork, brass, and iron.
